Cardinals do not nest in a house, along with the blue jays.  A cardinal can be invited to a 6" x 10" nesting box that is 2" high (looks something like a small desk drawer.) Cardinal If this box is nestled high in an evergreen tree and sprinkle sunflower seeds in it, they may come to have their young.
