I use recycled wood which makes one of these houses too heavy to ship. You can contact me for a special order. The Mourning Doves need a floor space in their nest box of at least 8″ x 8″ and up to 10″ x 12″. The opening should be a rectangle approximately 3 to 4″ wide by 4 to 5″ high. A ledge on the front makes it easier for landing. House heigth is 8 to 10″ and mounted 5 – 8 Ft off the ground. You can put the nest house on a post with semi protection below a tree or a shed. You can also mount the house on the side of a shed under an eave.
